Course Details

This course is designed for all RESTORATIVE DENTISTS, SURGEONS AND LAB TECHNICIANS wishing to increase their knowledge. Participants will have the ability to treatment plan and treat implant prosthodontics. The program will cover the every day case to the most complex clinical situations.

In this program, participants will learn a step by step process to ensure success in diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment and management. Participants will develop the foundational principles necessary to treat today’s implant patient.

Dr. Howard Chasolen graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1991. He earned a specialty certificate in Prosthodontics and a fellowship certificate in Implant Prosthodontics from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine

Fixed Implant Prosthetics and Immediate Loading


  • Learn how to categorize the three types of fixed implant prostheses based on the tissue volume loss and how it influences the design of the fixed prosthesis.

  • Develop a detailed understanding of the very different challenges in restoring the maxilla vs. the mandible with a fixed prosthesis and when a removable prosthesis is more appropriate.

  • Learn how to use a pre-operative template to determine if hard and soft tissue augmentation is necessary prior to implant placement to achieve the desired outcome.

  • Screw retained vs. cement retained fixed implant prostheses and when each is more appropriate.

  • How to incorporate CAD designed and milled fixed prosthetic frameworks for precision fit.

  • Learn when connecting implants to teeth is clinically acceptable and what is the best method for long term success.

  • Learn to evaluate crown-height space requirements for fixed prostheses PRIOR to an executed treatment plan.

  • Master the management of the critical aesthetic zone and the 5 most important treatment considerations to ensure success.

  • Learn how to select restorative materials that will not disappoint in 3 years.

  • Review the literature on zirconia as an implant, abutment and restorative material.

  • Develop an occlusal philosophy to manage the single tooth implant, quadrant, complete arch and double complete arch fixed implant reconstruction.

  • Delivery procedures including torque protocols and cement selection for screw and cement retained restorations.

  • Develop a complete understanding of immediate loading of the single tooth to full arch reconstruction.

  • Review temporization concepts from direct conversion prosthesis to CT generated guided retro-fit immediate load.

  • Review the current state-of-the-art and science of in-office scanning technology and laboratory scanning technology.
